Electricity output increases 10% YoY in Jan-Aug

Total commercial electricity output was estimated to reach 76 billion kWh in the first eight months of this year, increasing 9.64% from a year ago, the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) announced.

In which, the domestic commercial electricity output rose by 9.53%.

Vietnam saved total of 1.7 billion kWh in the first eight months of the year, meeting 2.2% of the commercial electricity output, EVN said.

In August alone, EVN’s total electricity output was estimated at 11.5 billion kWh. The daily average electricity output was 371 million kWh.

This year’s August is also the peak time for hydropowers since the beginning of the year. The Central Committee on Flood and Storm Control and Prevention requested some hydropower lakes such as Hoa Binh, Son La, Tuyen Quang to demound water to control flood.

In September, EVN plans to produce 365.5 million kWh per day. The group aims to operate safely and stably power system, especially the southern grid during the Nam Con Son system to be cut from Sept 16.
